Register now for the 2nd Semester!
Registrations are now open for the OpenYUFE language courses starting in semester 2 of the 2025-2026 academic year. During this semester, you can develop your Academic English proficiency, dive into one of the local YUFE languages, or discover other languages such as Russian and Chinese.
Not yet an OpenYUFE student? Read more about it on OpenYUFE and create your account on the Virtual Campus. You will have access during 4 semesters to a wide range of academic courses, language courses and activities, civic engagement activities, professional training activities, YUFE Academy lectures and induction courses. OpenYUFE takes place at 10 universities simultaneously and allows you to enrich your study programme in many ways.
OpenYUFE offers several opportunities to improve your language skills. You will find courses and activities in four different learning formats:
| Setting | Type | Timing | Participants | Assessment | |
| Self-study modules | Online | Autonomous learning | Asynchronous | Individual | Automated assessment |
| Virtual tutoring | Online | Informal & peer learning | Synchronous | One-on-one | Learning portfolio |
| Online Language Café | Online | Informal & peer learning | Synchronous | Group | Formative assessment |
| Language course | Online or physical | Formal learning | Synchronous + homework | Group | Formal, summative assessment |
In order to help you choose the learning format that fits you best, the Virtual Campus (VC) will guide you. Don’t forget to use the filters (subcategory, delivery method, etc.)!
For the language courses and activities, you can combine up to 2 enrolments per semester. When the maximum number of seats is reached, you will be put on the waiting list. If you change your mind or if you discover a conflict in your course schedule, you can withdraw before the registration deadline and switch to another course or activity. Don’t forget to do so; you will help your fellow students on the waiting list to access the language course of their choice. Also, if you maintain your registration and don’t show up in class, you will not be allowed to enrol for a language course or activity in the next semester.
Suppose you combine a language course – aka formal learning – with two different Practice & Experience activities, such as an Online Language Café and some self-study. In that case, you will be rewarded with a YUFE Language Star.
