Boost your language skills through OpenYUFE

3 November 2026

Discover the OpenYUFE language courses and activities starting in semester 2, and register now!

All you need to do is to join OpenYUFE, which is free. Read more about it on the OpenYUFE page and create your account on the YUFE Virtual Campus.

During four semesters you will have access to a wide range of academic courses, language courses and activities, civic engagement activities, professional training activities and YUFE Academy lectures. OpenYUFE takes place at 10 universities at the same time and allows you to enrich your study programme in many ways.

This programme also offers you several opportunities for improving your language skills. Next semester, you can develop your legal English proficiency, dive into one of the local YUFE languages like Finnish or Croatian, or discover a totally different language such as Chinese.

You will find courses and activities in four different learning formats:

  Setting  Type  Timing  Participants   Assessment
Self-study modules  Online  Autonomous learning  Asynchronous  Individual   Automated assessment
Virtual tutoring  Online  Informal & peer learning  Synchronous  One-on-one   Learning portfolio
Online Language Café  Online  Informal & peer learning  Synchronous  Group    Formative assessment
Language course  Online or physical  Formal learning  Synchronous + homework  Group    Formal, summative assessment

In order to help you choose the learning format that fits you best, the Virtual Campus will guide you. Don’t forget to use the filters (subcategory, method of delivery, etc.).

For the language courses and activities, you can combine up to 2 enrolments per semester. When the maximum number of seats is reached, you will be put on the waiting list. If you change your mind or if you discover a conflict in your course schedule, you can withdraw before the registration deadline and switch to another course or activity. Don’t forget to do so, you will help your fellow students on the waiting list to access the language course of their choice. Also, if you maintain your registration and don’t show up in class, you will not be allowed to enroll for a language course or activity in the next semester.

If you combine a language course – aka formal learning – with 2 Practice & Experience activities such as an Online Language Café and some self-study, you will be rewarded a YUFE Language Star.

Will you boost your language skills next semester? Welcome!
