LingYUFE

LingYUFE is a collaborative network uniting linguists across YUFE universities to advance research, teaching, and public engagement in language studies. It supports cross-university projects, knowledge and cultural exchange, and multilingual collaboration, empowering scholars and students to explore linguistic diversity and strengthen the field of linguistics within a European context.

History

LingYUFE emerged from an initial partnership between Sorbonne Nouvelle and the University of Antwerp. As this collaboration strengthened, the network expanded to include other YUFE partner universities, evolving into a pan-European platform for linguistic exchange and collaboration.

Launch

LingYUFE officially launched in September 2024 at Sorbonne Nouvelle University, marked by its first networking day, which fostered initial connections among participants. Shortly afterward, a Steering Committee was established, laying the groundwork for ongoing projects, events, and collaborative initiatives across YUFE universities.

MultiLingYUFE

MultiLingYUFE is a 24-month YUFE research project led by Alessandro Basile (Sorbonne Nouvelle University) exploring language diversity, variation, and change. Integrating multimodal, historical, corpus, and translation-based data, it connects 9 YUFE universities, fosters early-career mobility, workshops, and a 2026 conference “Different approaches to the dynamics of language variation and change”, advancing interdisciplinary, cross-border linguistics.
