23 June 2025

From June 10 to 14, master’s students, doctoral students, and postdoctoral researchers participated in the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on European Philosophies of Technology at Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris.

The programme, organised by Professor Alberto Romele of Sorbonne Nouvelle and Darryl Cressman of Maastricht University, allowed the 22 participants of eleven different European Universities to reflect on the diverse schools of thoughts which have Influenced our common perception of technology.

This BIP brought together three YUFE partners, the Universities of Cyprus, Maastricht University and Sorbonne Nouvelle, along with one Erasmus partner Institution, the University of Florence, to provide an intensive week of lectures, discussions, and cultural visits which enabled participants to engage with a wide range of philosophical approaches and theoretical frameworks.

From the phenomenology of technology to the history of analytic philosophy, international scholars delivered lectures exploring the evolution of philosophy of technology. Participants also visited the Museum of Arts and Crafts, as well as the Jeu de Paume Art Center’s “The World According To AI” exhibition, obtaining insights on a polarising topic which is undoubtedly impacting society’s perspectives on technology.
