From June 10 to June 14, Sorbonne Nouvelle University, in collaboration with the YUFE Alliance, hosted its first-ever BIP in the city of Paris. This programme, centered on the theme of urban ecology in Paris, aimed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the topic through a combination of lectures, workshops, and visits to ecological initiatives in and around the city.
Elaborated by Sorbonne Nouvelle Professor Violaine Delteil, the programme featured three distinguished guest professors from partner universities who worked alongside local professors to offer a transdisciplinary perspective on the topic. Twenty-three students from five different YUFE partner universities participated, gaining a deeper understanding of ecological city planning in Paris from socio-economic, ethical, architectural, and political viewpoints.
A few weeks before the start of the Olympic Games in Paris, participants had the opportunity to explore lesser-known areas of the city while studying the often-overlooked political and economic implications of urban planning policies in Paris.
This BIP also provided a preview of the Urban Ecology in Europe YUFE Minor, which will begin next year at Sorbonne Nouvelle University. Stay tuned for more information.
