What the EU is doing
YUFE has been created thanks to the European Universities Initiative. The mission of this ambitious initiative is to develop long-term cooperation between European higher education institutions, for the benefit of their students, staff and society. Maria-Valerie stresses the importance of a borderless education, one that makes inclusiveness and diversity the key factors of a fair system. This approach relates not only to location or personal experiences, but to age as well. Learning is in fact a lifelong process. Personal background does not matter: universal access to school and training is at the basis of the European Education Area. Through the European Universities Alliances, the European Education Area provides students, lifelong learners, and professionals with mobility opportunities to achieve their educational and training goals. Students can develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative skills through “living labs” and holistic learning approaches that defy traditional disciplinary boundaries.
