For me, participating in the YUFE Pilot on Doctoral Learning was an inspiring experience that deeply engaged me with the international perspective on young researchers’ careers. Taking part in different workshops within the program not only provided me with support in my ongoing PhD trajectory but also gave me greater clarity about future opportunities, which is especially valuable given that I’m finishing my last year soon. The “Apero Doctoring” format, where we could discuss our common struggles with other PhD researchers from different countries and scientific disciplines, was refreshing and allowed me to see new perspectives on the familiar challenges. I would definitely recommend this program to current and future PhD researchers of the YUFE-member universities, as expanding our self-management, networking, and soft skills during the early-career stage is as important as gaining field-specific knowledge.
