The fourth Franco-Dutch Strategic Dialogue brought policymakers, academics, and EU stakeholders together in The Hague on March 23–24 to advance cooperation on European higher education and research.
Hosted at the Royal Conservatoire, the discussions focused on the future of European Universities alliances and their role in strengthening cross-border education, innovation, and skills development. With upcoming revisions to EU programmes such as Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe, participants emphasized the need for sustainable funding models and clearer governance structures.
Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) contributed to the programme by facilitating breakout session discussions on joint programmes and the development of a European degree label, with participation from Sorbonne Nouvelle University (SNU) and Maastricht University (UM).
The dialogue concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration between France and the Netherlands, while contributing to a broader European strategy for the future of higher education.
