Are you looking to bridge the gap between academia and society? Whether you are a student eager to make a difference, an early-career researcher, or a staff member looking to refine your professional approach, the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) alliance invites you to join our upcoming training sessions focused on community and civic engagement.

For Students: Your Journey Toward the YUFE Civic Star

YUFE Civic Star Awaits You Trainer: Prof. dr. sc. Bojana Ćulum Ilić (UNIRI) & Victor Gros (UC3M)

Interested in getting socially involved? The Civic Engagement Activities Intro Training is a mandatory first step for any student wishing to earn the YUFE Civic Star. These sessions explain how to recognize and showcase the competencies you develop through community volunteering and YUFE Help Desks.

Choose one of the following sessions:

📅 27 February 2026 – 10h00 CET

📅 27 March 2026 – 14h00 CET

Why Participate?

  • Discover why civic engagement is core to the YUFE identity.

  • Learn the rules for applying for the Civic Star (which requires a 50-hour minimum workload).

  • Begin the process of becoming an engaged European citizen.


For Staff & Early Career Researchers: University-Community Engagement

University-Community Engagement for Staff: What’s in it for me?

📅 6 March 2026, 9:00 – 10:00 CET

This introductory one-hour session is designed for university leaders, academic teachers, and administrative staff. Led by Bojana Ćulum Ilić (University of Rijeka), the training explores how to embed community engagement into the core missions of teaching and research.
