New Blended Intensive Programme 2025 at the UC3M

3 April 2025

More than 30 students from 5 universities are participating in a Blended Intensive Programme coordinated by Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). The online module started on Tuesday, 1st April, and will be followed by a week of onsite workshops at the UC3M campus in July.

Following the steps of the first successful edition of the BIP organised in 2024 by Nicolaus Copernicus University (NCU), this year’s programme is entitled “EU and National Law in the Context of Migrations: Some Approaches.” Students and teachers from UC3M, NCU, the University of Antwerp, and the University of Rijeka are involved in this programme, which also includes Vytautas Magnus University.

Online module: 1 April – 13 May

The course consists of six weekly lectures held by teachers from each university. Prof. Dirk Vanheule gave the first introductory session this week. Focusing on migrations, students will also study Social Law (Prof. Daniel Pérez del Prado), Family Law (Martina Tičić), trafficking in human beings (Prof. Tomasz Oczkowski and Dr. Piotr Sadowski), and human rights (Dr. Airė Keturakienė).

The last session will be dedicated to preparing a final report outlining the advancements and unsolved challenges in local and national regulations.

Onsite module: 30 June – 4 July

During this week in Madrid and through a dozen workshops, students will apply theoretical concepts acquired in the online module to concrete cases of study. In addition, three sessions will be dedicated to soft skills, such as design thinking, teamwork, pitching, and oral presentations.

To conclude the programme, the final report will be finalised with the support of all teachers involved in the BIP.

Students’ commitment will be rewarded

Successful completion of the course will be awarded with 3 ECTS and the Civic Star certificate
