YUFE Academy Autumn 2025

18 September 2025

Did you know…

…that the length of comfortable silence depends on the culture?

…that losing your sense of smell can be an early sign of dementia?

…that memes aren’t just funny pics, they also have a scientific value?

We did! – and we’d love to share much more with you! That’s why we invite you to the next YUFE Academy: a series of open lectures led by top professors and experts from our partner universities. Get your knowledge from a reliable source and feed your curiosity.

Whether in person or online, in YUFE Academy, you’ll join a truly European classroom, exploring new ideas and meeting people from across the continent.

“I liked the intergenerational aspect of the discussion following the lecture… being included in such a diversified group age-wise, allows more discussion between every generation on global issues and how to solve them.” — YUFE Academy participant.

The Autumn edition brings lectures on a wide range of fascinating topics, from science and technology to society and wellbeing. We’ll look at climate change, exploring bold ideas such as cooling the Earth by reflecting a percentage of sunlight back into space. We’ll ask whether humanity is truly the culprit behind global warming and examine the hidden costs of urbanisation.

The programme also explores the impact of technology on learning and research: from the relevance of automated translation in academic work to practical tips on boosting your online learning. And because our alliance is so diverse, we will turn to intercultural communication — asking how much meaning is lost in translation.

This theme will carry us into October, when the Academy joins forces with the YUFE International Café, inviting you for a cup of hot beverage and even hotter debate on how our cultural differences affect communication. The lecture ‘Say What?! Understanding Communication through Culture’ will start on Thursday, 23rd, online and onsite and will be followed by workshops raising awareness of differences in the perception of language.

How to join:

  1. Visit the YUFE Academy section in the Virtual Campus.
  2. Sign up for as many lectures as you like.
  3. Mark your calendar and join the session — free of charge.

So far, more than 1,000 participants from across Europe have taken part, with satisfaction rates at the highest level*. Join the audience and see for yourself.
