My involvement in Help Desk Network at NCU has given me the opportunity to co-create initiatives that bring different groups together and create space for meaningful interaction and mutual learning. One of the experiences I value most was the MedPicnic, which brought together seniors, people with disabilities, and students from NCU’s medical and health sciences faculties. Being part of creating a space for people to meet, exchange experiences, and learn from one another was particularly meaningful to me.
Another important part of my involvement was supporting students as they prepared and delivered their first workshops and educational activities. I really appreciated being able to share my experience, help them turn their ideas into concrete initiatives, and see them gradually gain confidence in working with others.
This experience has shown me that civic engagement can be a space where everyone, regardless of their role, can contribute something valuable while also learning a great deal themselves. To anyone considering a similar activity, give it a try. Sometimes, being open to collaboration and willing to share your experience is enough to help create something that can make a real difference to others.
