BioYUFE Webinar: Nature-based Solutions for climate-change adaptation

19 May 2026

SCAIRY (Sustainable Climate Action through Interdisciplinary Research in YUFE) invites you to join a BioYUFE webinar discussing nature-based solutions as a means for adapting to rapid global change on 5 June 2026 from 14:00-16:30h CEST: in this ECR-led event, Dr. Ramya Ambikapathi (University of Eastern Finland) and PhD Candidate Kristina Chilver (University of Essex) will present their work highlighting different aspects of nature-based solutions from cities to coasts.

Ramya Ambikapathi investigates sustainable drought mitigation strategies involving urban greenery and Kristina Chilver researches whether oyster reefs can protect eroding coastlines from rising seas, and why turning a non-native shellfish into a tool for climate adaptation is proving both promising and contested.

The session is a one-hour webinar followed by a 90-minute workshop. Joined in the workshop by James Rice (University of Essex), researching the political and economic effects of climate misinformation; Alex Hooft van Huysduynen (University of Antwerp), investigating rapid evolutionary adaptation in response to environmental change; and Anna Street (Le Mans University), a lecturer in Theatre and Performance Studies whose HydroArts project researches the presence and participation of water in the arts. The workshop will introduce a range of environmental, socio-economic, historical, and cultural contexts for why adaptation measures succeed in some regions while facing resistance in others.

Register here!

A Zoom invitation will be emailed to you before the webinar.
