Bridge Generations This Summer in Toruń

30 April 2026

Recruitment is now open for the second edition of the international volunteering programme “Bridging Generations”, implemented within the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). Applications can be submitted via the official European Solidarity Corps platform until 5 May.

The project is organised by the Copernican Integration Centre of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, one of YUFE partners, and will take place on 6-19 July 2026. During these two summer weeks, young people from across Europe will work together with senior residents of Toruń, engaging in community-based, intergenerational activities hosted at the Copernican Integration Centre.

Who can apply?

The opportunity is open to young people aged 18-30 from all over Europe. Participants will work alongside local partner institutions, including the Local Community Centre “Willa z Pasją” and the Day Care Social Support Centre in Toruń, contributing directly to the well-being of the local community.

Why is this especially attractive for YUFE students? Because participation in the “Bridging Generations” volunteering project counts towards the YUFE Civic Star. To earn this certificate, participants need to complete:

  • Civic Engagement Activities Intro Training
  • At least 50 hours of a Civic Engagement Activity
  • Two Reflection Reports documenting their learning outcomes

International experience guaranteed

NCU in Toruń holds the European Solidarity Corps Quality Label (awarded in 2024), which allows the university to host, support and lead international volunteering projects until 2027. In previous editions, the programme welcomed volunteers, including YUFE students from UCY and SNU, creating a truly international and inspiring learning environment.

How to apply?

Applications must be submitted through the European Solidarity Corps website, where you can also find detailed information about the programme conditions and volunteering principles.

If you are looking for a meaningful summer experience, want to engage with the local community, gain international experience and strengthen your civic profile within YUFE, Toruń is waiting for you this July.
