Would you like to launch a summer school with YUFE partner universities — or perhaps organise an exciting staff event across the YUFE network in Academic Year 26/27?
A YUFE Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) could be the perfect way to make it happen!
Through the BIP framework, groups of higher education institutions can design short, dynamic programmes that combine in-person mobility with virtual collaboration. These programmes bring together students or staff from across Europe to learn and train together — blending international experience with digital teamwork.
Each BIP includes:
- A short-term physical mobility abroad at one of the partner universities
- A virtual component that fosters collaboration and joint work on shared assignments
- Meaningful outcomes that contribute to participants’ professional and academic development
This is a fantastic opportunity to co-create innovative, international learning experiences and strengthen your connections across the YUFE alliance.
Ready to launch your own YUFE Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)?
If you have a BIP proposal you’d like to organise in Academic Year 26/27 with three YUFE partner universities (including your own), we’d love to hear from you!
Before submitting your proposal, please read the background information provided below to make sure you’re fully prepared.
YUFE BIP proposals for AY26/27 can be submitted with YUFE until August 2026: YUFE BIP proposal – Submission form.
Your university’s BIP/Mobility Coordinator will review all submissions and select which proposals will be included in your university’s Erasmus+ mobility funding application submitted with your country’s Erasmus+ national agency. You’ll be notified by the end of January 2026 whether your proposal has been included.
For more information about the process or the university’s Eramus+ mobility (budget) application timeline, please get in touch with your BIP/Mobility Coordinator (contact details below). They can also advise you on when your national Erasmus+ agency is expected to announce the final mobility budget for your university.
What is a Blended Intensive Programme?
- Short, intensive teaching activities for students (e.g. summer or winter schools, excursions) or a (professional development) event for staff in cooperation with European partners
- In case of a BIP teaching activity for students it needs to be worth at least 3 ECTS credits
- Designed and delivered by the coordinating YUFE university together with at least two other YUFE universities (with possible other higher education institutions from Erasmus countries in addition)
- Format: a physical stay of between 5 and 30 days plus an online component facilitating collaborative learning exchange and teamwork (no fixed duration for the virtual element)
- Target group: students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, doctoral candidates) or university staff
- At least 10 mobile participants from (the YUFE partner) universities coming with individual Erasmus+ mobility grants or zero-Erasmus+ mobility grants to the BIP (participants from the host country, BIP teaching staff and participants not coming with Erasmus+ mobility grants do not count towards this number)
- The physical stay of the mobile participants must be funded by their home institutions through Erasmus+ student (or staff) mobility. Please note that staff travelling to teach within a BIP cannot be funded through Erasmus+ staff mobility. Only participating staff receiving the training are eligible for Erasmus+ funding and count towards the minimum of 10 mobile participants coming with Erasmus+ funding.
Submitting a BIP proposal does not guarantee that the BIP will be approved or funded. Your university will communicate the procedure in more detail.
Funding
Coordination
The BIP coordinating university receives a lump sum funding for the organisation and implementation of the BIP. The BIP can take place at the coordinating university or at another location.
For a BIP with 10 participants coming with individual Erasmus+ (BIP) mobility grant, a lump sum of €4,000 is available. The maximum funding is €8,000 for at least 20 participants coming with individual Erasmus+ (BIP) mobility grant. Participants from the host university do not count towards the minimum number of participants (nor do incoming staff to teach in the BIP). In case not enough students or staff coming with an individual Erasmus+ (BIP) mobility grant participate in the BIP, the lump sum will not be granted.
Example: If the University of Bremen organises a BIP, participants from Bremen may also take part in the programme. However, at least 10 participants coming with Erasmus+ mobility grants must take part. Participants from Bremen do not receive Erasmus funding.
The organisational funding can be used for staff costs, materials, room hire, communication, activities, catering, etc.
Mobility funding
Participating students apply at their home universities for an Erasmus+ mobility grant for short-term mobility.
Participating staff and university employees apply at their home universities for an Erasmus+ staff mobility grant (for training).
