YUFE enters the new year with a strong focus on universities’ contributions to society, as it has published the YUFE Community Engagement Declaration 2025-2030.
The YUFE Community Engagement Declaration 2025-2030 reaffirms YUFE’s mission to transform European higher education by establishing the leading model of a student-centred, open, and inclusive European University. It further emphasizes the Alliance’s commitment to making a meaningful societal impact.
“This Declaration positions YUFE as a dedicated Alliance, contributing to the resolution of pressing societal challenges. In alignment with the YUFE quintuple helix model, collaboration with diverse actors is paramount, and community engagement stands as a transversal principle that is deeply integrated into all activities of the Alliance” – underlines Maria-Valerie Schegk, YUFE’s Secretary General.
The Declaration contributes to enhancing YUFE’s societal impact and highlights the synergies between YUFE areas: Education, Research and Innovation, Staff Development, Entrepreneurship, Community & Civic Engagement, Equity, Diversity & Inclusivity, Quality Culture, and Communications.
The Declaration can also serve as a guide and a powerful change driver to further strengthen the YUFE universities as engaged institutions committed to addressing pressing societal issues.
In particular, the YUFE Community Engagement Declaration 2025-2030:
- highlights the YUFE values;
- brings together the Alliance’s community engagement objectives to better highlight the YUFE’s mission;
- provides recommendations to better reflect the YUFE’s priorities and facilitate the achievement of its objectives;
- endorses a quintuple helix model of communication that fits well with YUFE’s to-date achievements and goals, and echoes its commitment to holistic development and inclusive partnerships that benefit diverse communities in YUFE cities and regions.
