Meet Our New President and Vice President

2 June 2024

YUFE Alliance is thrilled to announce the election of a new President and Vice President of the YUFE European University alliance.

Daniel Mouchard, President of Sorbonne Nouvelle University, President, and Jutta Günther, President of the University of Bremen, Vice President, will start their functions in September 2024.

This new chapter is taking place at the same time as the Alliance’s official transition to an AISBL (Association Internationale Sans But Lucratif – International Non-Profit Association), which will be based in Brussels and marks a significant milestone for YUFE. The transition to an AISBL strengthens the Alliance’s legal framework and operational autonomy, allowing for deeper collaboration and innovation. Daniel Mouchard brings a wealth of experience and commitment to European cooperation, making him an ideal choice to lead YUFE in this new phase.

A warm farewell to President Rianne Letschert:

A Legacy of Leadership and Excellence in European Higher Education

YUFE extends its heartfelt gratitude to outgoing President Rianne Letschert for her outstanding leadership and dedication throughout her mandate. Her vision and tireless efforts have been instrumental in propelling YUFE forward. The Alliance owes a significant debt to her commitment to European transnational cooperation and excellence in higher education.

Looking Ahead

During their term, Daniel Mouchard and Jutta Günther aim to expand partnerships with business and industry, public institutions, and civil society, support student initiatives, and promote projects for greater sustainability and democracy.

With a dynamic new leadership team and a robust legal foundation, YUFE is well-positioned to shape the future of European higher education. We look forward to following the Alliance’s continued progress under Daniel Mouchard’s guidance and Jutta Günther’s support.
